These past weeks have been busy ones for our family. We have had many visitors: neighbours, Grandparents, and of course, Auntie Sharyl, and we have travelled up to Edmonton where we visited Uncle Brad and Auntie Karin, Uncle Louis and Auntie Erin, and saw most of my extended family. Julia even met a great-great auntie!

Julia has been eager to sit up, but since her muscles are not yet strong enough, she just plops over after she pulls herself upright from a semi-sitting position. She is continuing her attempts to move herself about, but does not get very far… she has yet to figure out that if she were to use her arms as well as her legs, she would be much more successful! But soon enough I am sure that she will have the run of the house.

Hopefully I will soon have some new pictures posted in the gallery… but you may want to give me at least another day or two. Our little girl has been an eating machine as of late, and thus I do not have much free time to devote to her websites these days. Right now she is having a little nap… probably tired from all of that eating!

Doc Day
Posted on November 6th, 2006 at 8:10 pm by Derek/Shannon|just the 1 comment

Just a quick doctor’s appointment update. Our Julia is now 13.5 pounds, and has “a very nice shaped head” according to the doc. Next month: we talk about how and when to introduce solids.

As for life at home, look out, Derek has started the crawling lessons!

All The Little Fishies
Posted on November 1st, 2006 at 5:31 pm by Derek/Shannon|no comments yet

As many of you know, many children’s toys take batteries, and are basically useless without those batteries. One of Julia’s favourite items is her swing. It does a variety of things: goes back and forth, side to side, plays music, water, or nature sounds, has a light on it, and has some fish that turn round above her.  All of these marvelous functions require batteries, 4 D-cells to be exact. We decided to try and save some money on the continual cost of replacing these batteries by purchasing some less expensive ones from the dollar store… don’t do it! After about two days the fishies stopped turning and our girl Julia was not impressed; she was actually yelling at them in her own baby language, presumably to get swimming. Thus, we spent some bigger bucks on some PC batteries (made by one of the two largest battery companies), and a week later the swing is still going strong. Everyone is happy, and Julia gets to watch her fishies swim round and round all she wants.

As for the rest of our lives, things are going well. Julia has fallen into a nice sleep-eat-play routine, and is usually quite content. She and I have been out Christmas shopping already, and Julia has begun to show my love for the sights and sounds of the shopping centers during the holiday season. She loves the Christmas tree sections of the department stores; all of the bright colours and lights.  It will be fun to see how she reacts to the Christmas tree being put up here in a month. A photo moment I am sure.

Speaking of photos, I also updated her gallery today, so feel free to take a look!
