Rosey What??

Julia is feeling better now, but not before a second trip to the doctor and a diagnoses of Roseola, aka “baby measles”. Our girl was covered in little red spots all over her torso, hairline, and a smattering on her face, arms and legs.   Thus, we continued our anti-social ways of the past week, staying away from all those elderely, infantile, sick, or pregnant — which these days really limits the number of people that we can visit with! But, now Julia is well again, and we should be all good to go and visit with everyone over Easter this coming weekend.

Julia has also been making some headway in her quest to explore her world. She has finally decided that she needs a better mode of transportation — rolling across the room is just not hacking it anymore. Thus she is making tried and true attempts at figuring out this thing called crawling, and has begun to pull on people’s arms, hands, or clothing to get herself up to standing.

That is it for now though; our little one has awaken from her nap is hollering for me!

The first cold, it was bound to happen sometime; and sometime happens to be this week. Julia woke up early Tuesday morning with a fever, and later developed a plugged up nose, a cough, and some good sneezing capabilities as well. After a trip to the doctor to make sure it was not anything serious, and a few doses of Tylenol, Julia seems to be on the mend; hopefully by the weekend she will be back to her old self again and we can enjoy the forcasted warm weather!

Seven Months (yesterday)
Posted on March 8th, 2007 at 2:59 pm by Derek/Shannon|just the 1 comment

Yesterday marked Julia being here for seven months already! For those of you who have not seen here in a while she sure has changed, her third and fourth arms are coming in nicely, and soon her second set of eyes should be open… Okay maybe she has not changed quite that much, but she is 17lbs or so, pulling/wiggling across the floor, and is making more and more sounds each day. Her eyes still have not decided what colour they are going to be; but I think we can rule out purple, yellow, and neon pink.

If you really want to know what she looks like you can check out her newly updated gallery. There are some photos from the last month, including a few from our trip to the zoo yesterday to enjoy the +15 weather.

TV Junkie

Do you watch American Idol? Normally I do not, however NCIS is a repeat tonight so we turned on American Idol, and guess who loves it?? It’s not me, but it is our little Julia Paige. As she sits with me for her pre-bed quiet time, her eyes and ears are glued to the tv while this guy sings some song that nobody has heard of but seems to like. And speaking of tv, Julia has a favourite commercial. Have you seen the one with the flying flamingos for the to remain nameless telephone company? Julia loves that commerical. It does not really matter what is going on, if she hears the music for that commercial she stops what she is doing, and turns to watch the tv with a huge smile on her face. Once the commercial is over she goes back to doing whatever it was she was previously engaged in. It is crazy all of the little things that babies pick up!

Update
Posted on March 6th, 2007 at 10:04 pm by Derek/Shannon|no comments yet

Just a short little update to let you all know that our family is still here and kickin’, and teethin’ and screamin’ and cryin’ (sometimes), and wigglin’ and smilin’ and… well I could go on and on. Tonight Julia is decked out in her Oilers PJ’s from her Auntie Karin and Uncle Brad and just wigglin’ all over the floor, playing with her blocks, and hopefully getting tired very very soon.

Ahh, sleep, I remember what that was like, and hopefully Julia does too! Tonight we hope for a night like last; asleep at ten until four, eat, and then back to sleep until just before eight. That is about as good as it gets these days; some days are more like Sunday night; sleep for about two hours, and then cry for most of the night until sometime after four when her mom gives in and holds her while she sleeps so that Daddy can sleep a little before he has to go to work. So, like I said, for all those who are not parents, treasure your sleep and send me a few zzz’s if you have any extra!
