The Sleep Typer

Isn’t it amazing that I can type in my sleep? Right now I am sleeping on the floor, yet I am writing this blog post; I bring a whole new level to multi-tasking! Anyhow, Since my birthday I have been able to do a few more fun things with Mom and Dad. Yesterday Mom took me to the zoo, and we met my friend Camiela there with her mom too. We spent four hours walking and eating, and even taking a nap. I got to bring home a Cotton Top Tamarin, but don’t worry it’s not one of the ones that’s alive. I also got to visit some family and friends this past week too. We visited my Uncle Brad and Auntie Karin; I got to try out my cousin’s stroller before he/she is even born!  Mom and I also visited my Great-Grandpa up in Edmonton too.  It sure was a looong bus ride to get to his place, but Mom says I was pretty good.  I wanted to visit more family while we were in Edmonton, but we had to go home earlier than we had planned. Oh, how could I forget! I got to meet my friend Keaton for the first time! He just turned one recently, just like me. Up until now we had only been pen pals. But, I better go, because I am awake now, and it is harder to type when I am awake than when I am asleep. I still have much more to tell you, but perhaps another time!

Oh, and one more thing, Mom posted a few pictures from my birthday, but not too many since most of them are on CD now, and not on the computer. At least she is posting pictures though!

Guess what!!! Mom FINALLY put up some new pictures in my gallery. They are from the summer, but not my birthday, she is still working on those pictures. Hopefully the birthday ones will be up before I turn two. But, you do get to enjoy some photos from some of the fun things that we did this summer!

Happy Birthday to Me!
Posted on August 7th, 2007 at 2:02 pm by Derek/Shannon|just the 1 comment

Well, it has finally arrived, my first birthday. One year ago I was a helpless little bundle of joy… and now look at me! I am learning to walk, I can say some words, and I sure know how to get my point across! Mom and Dad say that they are wondering where the last year went, I think that if they can’t remember then they should just reread my blog!  But back to my birthday; I got a few more gifts today. Mom gave me a little backpack to take my stuff to the dayhome in it. Inside of the backpack was a butterfly sweater, two CD’s and a Veggie Tales book. Dad gave me these eggs (toy ones that chirp and help me to learn how to match shapes), and a bongo! I don’t know if we are having a special supper or not, but I sure hope so, considering I have to get a needle today. But, I should get back to playing. I only have three more weeks with Mom all day before she goes back to work so she and I need to do as many things together as possible.

Almost Birthday
Posted on August 5th, 2007 at 10:22 pm by Derek/Shannon|no comments yet

I am almost one! (Mom and Dad have been telling me that for about three weeks now). I had my birthday party today; all of my grandparents, all of my aunties, two uncles, and one great-grandma came to my house just to see me! We played, opened some great presents (books, a wagon, lots of clothing, a butterfly pillow, a necklace, barrets, a “corn popper”, a memory box, and Pooh mega blocks!), ate lots of food (three salads, fish, pork, chicken wings, fruit, and oh so much more!), and I got as much attention as I wanted. Mom made me a caterpillar cake out of cupcakes, and it was good. I even managed to get the green icing all the way up my arm.  It was a great day. My actual birthday is on Tuesday; that is when I will get to open my gifts from Mom and Dad; maybe they are waiting to give them to me then because I have to get a needle that day too.  But I won’t worry about that until Tuesday…

Thanks so much to everyone who came to my party. It was so much fun to have you here at my house. Thanks for all of the presents and the very yummy food. I am looking forward to the leftovers!

My Summer Vacation
Posted on August 2nd, 2007 at 2:46 pm by Derek/Shannon|no comments yet

Hi Everyone! It’s Julia here again, back after my first real round of summer holidays with my mom and dad.  (Last year doesn’t really count because I just slept the whole time).  These past two weeks I havebeen busy with lots of fun activities. We went camping in the Elbow Falls area. I really liked playing in the tent and going on hikes with Mom and Dad. We saw some little frogs that were fun to look at, but I sure didn’t want to touch them! After camping we came home and the next day went to Heritage Park. That was a great day! I got to see so many animals; ducks, geese, cows, chickens, sheep, and horses! I even got to help feed them (really looong pieces of grass). I had so much fun with the animals I didn’t want to leave them. But I did, and in the end it was a good idea because we walked all around the park to a different area and then got to have a picnic. I even got to play with sticks and big leaves; we don’t have many of those at my house.

Speaking of my house, I got to do some fun stuff there too. Dad filled up the pool a couple of times and I got to go swimming in the backyard! Yipeeeee! While I was swimming Dad built some new steps for the deck, and then when Grandpa and Grandma were here we finally got grass in the backyard. I can hardly wait until next week when I can play in my very own backyard.

That looks like a lot of fun for one little kid hey?! But that’s not all I have been doing. Yesterday we went to Drumheller and I saw dinosaurs! There sure were lots of them and I pointed at every single one. We went for a picnic for lunch at someplace where the prarie dogs weren’t afraid of Daddy, then we went to the big museum, the suspension bridge, the hoodoos, a drive into the middle of nowhere, a very little church, Boston Pizza for supper, and then Horseshoe Canyon before we drove home.  It sure was a busy day… I slept all the way home and then stayed up with Mom and Dad until they went to bed.

Today I went to the doctor, not really a fun part of my holidays, but Mom said that I was not getting out of the appointment! I don’t really like going to the doctor anymore, so I try to make it as difficult as possible! But in the end he said I was a healthy little girl. I weigh 8.5 kg (almost 19 lbs) and am 72 cm tall. Mom says I will have to stay looking out the back window in the car for a little while longer. I have to gain 3 more pounds before I can look out the front window.

But that’s it for now, I should probably supervise Mom and Dad as they clean up my future playroom!
